I've had numerous emails asking about me being Lauren from TOWIE, and asking for the fake tan range in their salons - I'm sorry but I'm a different Lauren (see I'm blonde!)
I'm going to talk about Lauren's Way fake tan and do a how to apply fake tan...
The Review:
Last week I spoke about the hype around Lauren Goodger from The Only Way is Essex's new fake tan range - Lauren's Way
Well anyway yesterday I received the tan and tried it out. I put it on before bed time last night. First impressions, the indicator dye is VERY dark... it was quite frightening and I sent a picture to my boyfriend!
eek! As you can see from this comparison, Lauren's Way is very dark...
Left - Lauren's Way. Right - St Tropez
As you can see, it is more liquidy than St Tropez and much darker. You also get 10ml more in the bottle for a cheaper price so it works out a good deal. The lotion is very moisturising and easy to spread and apply which I was impressed with. As I said the indicator dye is very dark and orangey toned but don't worry! The results are great...
What do you think? I've applied this all over including my face and as you can see the results are golden and lovely! As someone who is very pale this has made a huge difference and people have commented that I look very sun-kissed. Importantly also I don't look orange! This is just one application, the bottle advises 4 over 4 days but that would be far too dark for me!
You can get Lauren's Way tan from here for £14.45 (plus £4 ish for P+P).
How to apply fake tan:
Here's my guide to natural-looking fake tan. This may read a little complicated but once you know what you're doing (and it's pretty common sense) then it's easy.
- Apply a thick moisturiser to the following places
feet, knee fronts and backs, armpits, elbows front and back, hands (palms, backs and a bit on the inner wrist)
- Put on some gloves (you can get them cheaply from Boots)
- Using the fake tan, apply all over your body, rubbing in to remove and streaks and covering every area properly excluding hands (obviously, as you have gloves on) and the face
- Mix half moisturiser and half fake tan to do the collar bones and backs on the hands (pull the glove off a little to do the backs)
- Take off the gloves
- Using a flat cotton cosmetic pad, pump 1 pump of your ususal face moisturiser and 1 pump of fake tan onto the pad, mix with a cotton bud and then apply to the face and neck making sure it's all even, you've done under your jaw line (like with foundation) and around the ear area, blending in with the hairline. Use a clean cotton bud dipped in water/makeup remover to then remove the tan from your eyebrows and upper lip - you don't want a fake tan moustache!
Sleep with as much covering as possible or your sheets will go orange and wash off in the morning!
Hope this is helpful! Let me know if you have any questions or you can formspring them if you don't want it to go public - I'm laurenlovesblog.

Wow! You look stunning. I am crap at fake tan, so this has helped a lot. Well done to both Laurens xx
ReplyDeleteWow! It looks fantastic on you! Can you imagine what you would look like with 4 layers though?! Hahaha! Claire xx
ReplyDeleteOoh it looks really nice, I'd be interested to know how well it fades and how long it lasts, etc!
ReplyDeleteAlso ive tried searching your blog and can't find it but do you have a tutorial of the plaited hairstyle you're wearing in the photo? thank you xx
I'll let you know when it starts to fade.
ReplyDeleteI haven't done a how to for my hair yet. If you want me to I can? Video or pictures? xxx
I know! I'd be sooo dark! xxx
ReplyDeleteAww thank you. Glad the tutorial helped! xxx
ReplyDeleteeither way, whichever is best for you! i was trying to find one on youtube and got bored because they were all lauren conrad style and not what i was after :) x
ReplyDeleteYou're after lauren loves style :-P I'll get the boyf to record it after this boring film he's watching! xxx
ReplyDeleteWow i really want to try this now! 4 layers would be a little much i think maybe that's to get Lauren Goodger's skin colour!!! I find one of those mitts is the easiest way to apply tan - the only time i ever did it with gloves i was so streaky! xxShivvyxx
ReplyDeleteOh I had one of those mitts. I found it good for mousse tan, but I love mixing fake tans with moisturisers for different levels of tan so gloves are the only way to go for me! xxx
ReplyDeleteHere it is!

whats the best the mousse or lotion? looks great!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure honey, I only have the lotion and I personally prefer lotions to mousses because you can mix them with moisturisers. Google Really Ree - she has the mousse xxx
ReplyDeleteHey, after applying the tan before bed, did you have a shower in the morning? And how long does it last and did it just fade or go patchy? Xxx
ReplyDeleteYes you have to shower off the indicator dye because that will transfer to your clothes. And as for fading, ALL fake tans fade patchily due to skin cells shedding at different rates. You have to exfoliate (I love boots exfoliating gloves) every time you shower to ensure skin cells are removed, especially from knees and underarms and it'll fade naturally. Xxx
ReplyDeleteCan i ask where i can buy laurens way fake tan please?
ReplyDeleteThe link is in the post at the end of the review section, but here it is: http://www.laurengoodgerofficial.co.uk/

I've just got my tan in the post, have read the instructions and I'm quite confused, it says to not rub in? Do I just smooth it on? Won't that make me streaky? Please help lol
ReplyDeleteDon't worry about what it says hun, I rub it on. I think when they say smooth it on, that's the delicate way of saying rub it on. Just don't rub really hard and make sure it's even. Don't worry if in the morning it's streaky, it'll be fine underneath the indicator dye xxx
ReplyDeletedoes it wash off or does it gradually fade i dont want a tan thats going to run when its raining or anything like that ??
ReplyDeleteHello. Once you've washed off the indicaor dye after 4 hours, your tan cannot run. Tan works by staining skin cells, therefore won't run like a paint. Xxx
ReplyDeleteI have just applied and didn't realise it dried so quickly! It looks quite streaky on my legs :-( should I be worried? Lol x
ReplyDeleteAs long as you applied it evenly all over it should be fine. Maybe just to make sure, rub moisturiser over the area to spread out the streaks and even the indicator? Xxx
ReplyDeleteI have ordered some of Laurens Way False tan to! Hope mine turns out as well as yours! Also how long did your tan take to arrive? I orderd mine on Tuesday and still havent recieved my parcel! :( xx
ReplyDeleteIt's only been 2 days, I'd give it a week just in case the postal service is rubbish. I got mine from the PR company too which is different from the suppliars I guess? x
ReplyDeleteOk! Just a shame because I was hopen to have it for the weekend x
ReplyDeleteDid you get it in time? x
ReplyDeleteI've found Laurens way on eBay! Much quicker delivery and such an amazing tan I need to stock up!!
ReplyDeleteGreat review. Just a quick question, when you say to apply a thick moisturiser, should this be just before you are putting the fake tan on? I normally heavily moisturise the day before tanning, didn't realise you could do it just before?
ReplyDeletexxx
Yeah literally just before you put on the tan, a thick barrier layer of moisturiser on areas that stain and are dry like your feet, knees etc to stop the tan soaking in and making you patchy orange. Xxx
ReplyDeleteJust wondered I take it you had a showervthe next day? Also wanted to ask when you went to bed did anynof it transfer to the sheet and does it smell??? X
ReplyDeleteHey I did shower the next day to get the indicator dye off. It did transfer a little onto the sheets and it smelt like all fake tans do but not badly. x
ReplyDeleteReally great review with good detail!
ReplyDeleteXx
