My Bestival Experience with @SureUK

I’m a festival newbie and having never been to one, I was incredibly excited when Sure asked me to blog for them from Bestival on the Isle of Wight. I hopped over the Solent and took Sure’s Festival Tips guide and my best friend Sarah as festival expert guides.

First off, we managed to get the Bestival Shuttle from the ferry to the site which was really easy. We were super excited to be on our way (I look creepily like the overly-obsessed girlfriend meme here)

But we were scared of the smelly camping…

Our wristbands allowed us entry to the Wild Copse camping which was really near the arena, but also was really quiet. There were beautiful tents you could rent or you could pitch your own and the area had showers! It felt very VIP to be allowed in the area many people were turned away from, which was marked by this huge Indian headdress.

Here I am wearing coral shorts from ASOS, lace top from Primark and floral hair garland from Topshop. My very bright lipstick is MAC Candy Yum-Yum. Well, where else can you wear a neon pink lippie?

Every year Bestival has a theme which requires dressing up, and this year it was Desert Island Disco. I took some photos of the best outfits I saw to share

There was also a gorgeous parade! It was amazing!

The vibe of the festival felt almost like a circus with side-shows. There were the main stages, but all around were little tents filled with every kind of entertainment you could imagine. I saw a comedy act, a Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons style band playing Beyonce, and did a lot of dancing to trance and club music at the HMS Bestival ship stage; so many things! We also got in the RayBan photobooth

Plus there were delicious food stalls everywhere with so much choice I practically had a breakdown at each mealtime, knowing I would have to make a decision! There were also several boutique-y bars

Saturday night, I had a brilliant time seeing some of the acts. On the Big Top stage, there was an act billed called “special guest” so we decided to check it out… and it was The Kooks! Cue Sarah and I dancing round to our Sussex University soundtrack!

We also saw Wild Beasts play, which was amazing! I’d not heard of them before but Sarah dragged me along and I’ll definitely be checking the rest of the album out. We saw London Grammar

and the brilliant Foals!

There was a flare in the crowd, a glitter cannon went off, people were on shoulders, and the lead singer Yannis was in the crowd… I felt very rock and roll at that moment. (Geeky festival newbie here!) Foals were so fantastic I still can’t believe it!

On Sunday, we decided to get another bus down to the beach at Sandown to get Sarah a rucksack and to get a fried breakfast but we also checked out the beach.

It wasn’t long however before we were wanting to go back to Bestival and enjoy the final day

Here I am wearing a white dress from ASOS, and lays I gathered from various bars! I'm also wearing MAC Petals and Peacocks lipstick which is an amazing lilac. Again, where else would I get the chance to wear it!?

We listened to some more bass and trance acts (hence the trance faces)

We also saw Clean Bandit who had the two best singers I have ever seen live! Wow!

and I waited desperately to see Chvrches – my absolute favourite band at the moment

We also saw Catfish and the Bottlemen, Childhood and explored lots more side-stalls including a personal favourite – the knitting tent!

We also had to check out the Sure Reverse Bungee which looked terrifying

I’d like to say I went on it, but I was far too wussy!

Overall, I had the best time! I got to spend a weekend with amazing music and my best friend. Thank you Sure Compressed for sending us, but also from keeping us smelling nice and avoiding arguments over sharing sleeping space! I’ll update you all soon on how the Sure Compressed helped us survive!
