Review: MyTights.com

I love tights! I seem to live in skirts and thick tights on a daily basis. (I've been told there's a quote in New Girl when Jess says "I know nothing about men. That's why I'm wearing a short skirt and wool tights." which reminds my friends of me!) When MyTights.com emailed me asking if I wanted to try out a pair I obviously jumped at the chance! I chose the Henry Holland Super Suspender Tights which are currently £12.

I paired them here with my ASOS hummingbird print skater dress

The length of the stocking part of the tights is quite high, so to get full impact you need to wear a short skirt! I like the "flashes" of the tops you get when moving around with an above the knee skirt

The bottom of the tights is a very thick denier, so would be hard to break or ladder. The tops are more of a light denier though so may be easier to show pulls. I'm keeping them safely in the bag they came with when I'm not wearing them. They also have cute "pant" detail at the top around the waist. They are a little cheeky and would look fabulous with some sequin hotpants on a night out. Just make sure you don't wear them with a leather skirt like I did in my Instagram picture - it's the quickest way to looking cheap!

Button wanted in on the action. She may look uncomfortable but she always likes sitting on my arm, resting her chin and stretching her legs out!

Check out MyTights.com for a huge range of cute tights, including hold-up ones with the Paris skyline on, and with bunny ears!

Review: MAC lipstick in M.A.C. Red

I think I have found my perfect red lippie!

A couple of weeks ago I was out shopping with my best friend and I decided I needed to treat myself to a new lipstick. I've been on the hunt for a new red lipstick since Bourjois discontinued their Lovely Rouge colour.

I went to MAC in John Lewis in Southampton and the assistant was super lovely! She helped me look through all their reds, and we decided that as I'm very pale with pink, cool skin tones, I'd suit a blue toned red rather than an orange toned red.

We selected MAC Red which is described as a vivid bluish-red by MAC and comes in a satin finish which looks fairly matte but is moisturising

This is a really hard lipstick to take a photo of the true colour but hopefully this helps!

I love it! Although it was £15, I am so pleased I got it, it's my new go-to lipstick for nights out, parties, upcoming weddings! I think it's my new HG red lippie! Applied properly with lipliner, it seems to last about 4 hours, and clings after drinking so is great for nights out, and is a very flattering texture for dry, winter lips.

Review: Bleach London Rosé Super Cool Colours

I dyed my hair pink! Since seeing Bleach London released their Super Cool Colours range I've been hunting everywhere for the pale, candyfloss pink shade called Rose . I finally found it in Boots, Bournemouth where they have a huge range of colours for only £5

The bottles are small, but I only used half the bottle to do my whole head, and I have a lot of hair

It's simple to do. Wash you hair with shampoo as normal, towel dry and then put on gloves and apply this all over. Then leave it for 15 minutes and rinse out. The dyes are designed for light blonde or bleached hair, so as mine is only highlighted I left it in for 20 minutes whilst I had a bath to let it settle into the natural, darker colour.

The dye goes very deep pink, but don't panic!

The picture I sent my best friend Becky when I panicked...

The colour came out like this! It's a super candyfloss pink shade and I'm really happy with it

I love the way the colour has gone on my highlights, giving it a multi-tonal look, with some almost lilac shades! The bottle says it washes out in 2-10 washes, and as I'm precious about my hair, I've thoroughly googled it and it appears all the other bloggers who've tried it have had no problems getting the colour out. I can't wait to try other colours!

Amazing and Terrible Dating Stories: Take Me Out

I was recently asked to talk about my unique dating stories for Take Me Out. With Valentine's Day approaching I thought it would be great fun to share my best date ever, and to get a few friends to tell us their anonymous nightmare dates!

My best date ever - be prepared for Cheese!

The best date I ever went on was in October 2012. I had started seeing my now boyfriend and he announced we should go to London together. We met on the train in Southampton and headed up (which was exciting! I had the early stages of dating tingles and got to sit next to him for a whole hour!). When we got there, Sam said he was going to take me to see some art which was exciting as I'd never been to a gallery before (I'm from a tiny Scottish Island, don't judge me). He took me over to The Southbank Centre and we saw, Art by Offenders!

It was a really amazing display of sculpture and art by people in prisons and secure units across the UK. I felt so trendy and cool.

After that, we headed over to Victoria and got a London tour bus! (the ones with the headphones and everything). We travelled on the top deck for a while but it was such a cold day and I wore something pretty but not practical as usual. We headed down to the bottom deck and got all the way round to the Tower of London before we got off. We had one of our first kisses on the bus, it was magical!

After that, we sneaked into a tiny pub called The Anchor near The Globe Theatre where I had too many glasses of pink wine!

At this point Sam realised I needed some food so we had a yummy Pizza Express nearby and walked back to the train station along the South Bank which was lined with trees covered in fairy lights. In my tipsy state, it was the most beautiful, magical moment of my whole life and I realised I could be falling in love! *make sick noises now*

My very kind friends also volunteered some of their dating stories:

A boy's perfect date story

"I met a girl once as me and my mate were staying in York, and he dragged this girl from our night out back to our hotel. I'm in the bunk beds because he decides he wants the double, she climbs in and asks if she can stay with me as he's a bit creepy. We stay up all night talking having an awesome time, we go on a date a couple of weeks later, I travel up to York again, and we go out for dinner end up staying out all night and basically end up spending the next week up there. I had to go buy new clothes"

Terrible dating stories (from my anonymous friends!)

"I was once on a date that was terrible because the guy thought it would be endearing to give me his complete chronological family history. I got a friend to call me pretending to be my housemate and say our fire alarm had gone off in my room and the uni was going through my stuff."

"I went on a date with a guy who barely spoke, put down my attempts at small talk to the point of saying he doesn't like music and then he got drunk and told me all about his grandmother. It was weird"

"I went on a second date with this guy who seemed ok... until he took me to a bar and he got really drunk. Being duty driver and not drinking, I took him back to his place (mainly so I could make sure he wobbled home ok) and he dragged me indoors and then started playing "I think I love you" and slurringly telling me this song was all about me! Needless to say, I didn't call him back"

And the boys' stories

"One time, I threw up on the girls driveway. I went to pick her up, wasn't feeling particularly well but I’d already had to rearrange once and didn't want to mess it up. Needless to say, I managed to mess that one up.
"I went to Nando’s and the girl ordered plain chicken. Everything else went great except that, but I wasn't going to have plain chicken on my conscience."

Sale!

Hi everyone

I'm having a huge sale at the moment over on eBay. I'm trying to make some room for my boyfriend when he moves in (in April, so there will probably be many sales!).

Here's a peek at some of the things on offer:

I have loads of dresses, tops, trousers and jackets on sale. A few Playstation 3 games and some accessories. Pop over to my eBay page for more. The items are all mine, my boyfriend's and my mum's so  there's a range of sizes from 8-14

And here are the sad lonely hangers. I managed to go from 2 wardrobes and 2 chests of drawers to one wardrobe and one chest of drawers. It's been challenging! (and I've discovered vacuum pack storage is my friend!)

Review: MAC Candy Yum Yum Lipstick

I've been meaning to blog this for months now! Back in October I had to have a little operation which I was really scared about. The day I had it I came home to find my boyfriend's housemate Jen had bought me a little present to perk me up - MAC's Candy Yum Yum lipstick!

This lipstick is a gorgeous neon pink shade with a matte texture. Sure, it's a colour dupe for Barry M 62 lipstick, but the texture is so different!

It's a suits-all pink, which I've seen rocked on darker, olive skintones and on very pale pink tones like myself (google it!). It almost glows it's so bright, my photos don't do it justice.

As you can see the texture is very matte, but unlike Barry M 62 which is also a matte finish, it doesn't unflatteringly cling to all the dry flakes of skin. I prepped by lips by gently exfoliating with a toothbrush and then applied a swipe of colour.

The lipstick has great colour pay-off, with only one thin swipe creating this look. I have also discovered I love patting on a thin coverage for a bit of pink. This colour does stain your lips a bright magenta colour afterwards though.

Overall I'd give this lipstick a really high rating of 8.5/9. I'd only deduct points because it's so bright I feel self-conscious wearing it during the day!

Thank you Jen!
