Marks & Spencer Valentines Challenge

A couple of days ago, I blogged about choosing a dress for another blogger’s Valentine’s Day. I had Sabrina from A Little Obsessed as my blogging buddy and chose her a lovely pink dress. Yesterday, I wore my lovely Valentine’s dress, chosen for me by a mystery blogger (with amazing taste). I described my style as minimal, feminine and often a little vintage and this is the dress I was given

I was sent the Slash Neck Sleeveless Drop Hem Dress which is £39.50 and very beautiful - floaty and romantic -  perfect for my Valentine’s Day where I went from a day of meetings and supervisions at work, to dinner at Jamie’s Italian in Portsmouth. It’s made from 2 layers of sheer material with a gathered waist and a small pocket on the chest.

I styled it with a gold belt from Accessorize and a leopard print cardigan from Warehouse and loafers from TReds.

The meal was lovely - I had honeycomb canneloni and a chocolate brownie, although I obviously made my boyfriend swap meals halfway through so I could eat some of his wild rabbit pasta and lemon meringue pie! I also indulged in a bellini and cocktail and was spoilt with a huge bunch of flowers!

Thank you to the mystery blogger who chose my dress - you made my night!

Uniqlo Dresses and Tunics

Last week I was posted this lovely Uniqlo Tunic  - called the Ponte sleeveless dress, in navy which is £39.90. I loved the simple shift shape and pockets and thought it lended itself to a 60s style!

I styled it with dogtooth tights from Marks & Spencer and a beehive (See my how to do a beehive tutorial for an easy to create look)

The dress is a size small and came out a little big but comfortable (I'm a size 8). The material is very thick and good quality. There is a small, silver exposed zip on the back and deep pockets. I wore this out for a dinner party with my old housemates on Saturday.

Valentine's Day Challenge

I've been asked by Marks & Spencer to take part in a Valentine's Day Dress Challenge! I've been paired up with another blogger (who will remain a mystery) to send a dress to.

My partner is very chic, has an amazing hourglass body shape (very jealous) and always looks super gorgeous so finding her a dress for Valentine's is really difficult, but with the help of Becky from By Becky we chose this gorgeous dress, the Button Neck Ruched Dress which is £49.50

I chose it because the colour will look amazing against her hair and skin tone, and because it's very cute and flirty, perfect for a Valentine's Date Night! Plus I love the cute button detailing and ruching. Fingers crossed she'll love it as much as me.

I'll post after Valentines what I got!

Sponsored Video: Schwarzkopf Ultra Brights

Ultra Brights is Schwarzkopf's new range of colourants for bright hair as modelled by Rihanna and Katy Perry. They have also released instructional videos demonstrating how to get the looks - dip dye, colour refresh, highlights and pastel-coloured hair

Here's their instructions on getting dip-dyed hair

I love the look - similar to the dip dye I did recently with hair spray colours

I love the combination of several colours too to get mermaid hair (all photos are taken from the Schwarzcopf Facebook page)

The second demonstration video is on getting a pastel look which I love!

Love the candyfloss effect hair!

The next video is on getting ultra bright streaks

It looks so easy to do yet has so much impact. I love how the colour isn't too crazy so blends in really nicely

And finally how to do a full colour refresh for fading locks

Easy!

The Ultra Brights dyes are semi-perminant and work best on pre-lightened hair, although if hair is bleached the dyes take quicker so will need less time to develop. Schwarzkopf also recommend back-brushing hair before applying dye for a more even fade.

I think I'm going to dye my hair extensions several pastel colours and try this style!

Check out the Schwarzkopffacebook page for more inspiration

This is a sponsored post from Schwarzkopf, but I am genuinely excited by these products!

How to: Make your own lip scrub

Lush lip scrubs are currently in all beauty blogger makeup bags, but at around £6 for a tiny pot, they can be quite expensive so here's my guide to making your own.

You will need:
 - A pretty jar or tin - I used the little jar from my travel bottles set (£1.50 from Primark)
 - enough soft brown sugar to almost fill it
 - honey
 - flavouring (I used vanilla)

Step 1: Pour enough brown sugar to fill your container, then pour it into a mixing bowl

Step 2: Add enough honey to get a really thick consistency, but not too runny. Think paste-like texture

Step 3: Mix in a few drops of your flavouring. I've used vanilla here from Nielsen-Massey

Step 4: Scrub and then lick off! Then use a lovely lip balm to seal in the moisture

Disclaimer - I was sent the flavourings for review, but they're really awesome and I've used them in a lot of stuff. I made hot chocolate the other day and put a tiny bit of vanilla in for an amazing flavour; and when I made Hummingbird Bakery blueberry cupcakes at the weekend the vanilla paste added hugely!
