Girls and Guys Christmas Jumper Picks 2012

I'm a huge fan of Christmas jumpers, and they seem to be very popular this season. I already have my cardigan from Primark ready to rock and with Advent tomorrow I'm wondering when it's time to get it out? If you're also a Christmas jumper fan, here's a selection of jumpers for men and women at 3 levels - cool, slight cheese and cheese depending on what you feel you can pull off

Girls

Level 1 - Cool

This robin jumper is super cute and very subtle. It could be worn during the whole winter. It's on sale for £25.20 at Dorothy Perkins

I love this oversized Topshop candycane jumper which would look great over leather-look leggings this winter - £50
This Topshop dogtooth ski jumper is super cool, with a nod to 80s styling. I really love it and it's £42

Level 2 - Slight Cheese

I'm loving this fairisle jumper with reindeer on! It's £35 at ASOS and has just the right amount of cheese to be ironically cool

This polar bear jumper, which is £50 at Topshop is wearing a Christmas party hat! Awesome!

Level 3 - Cheese

This ASOS Christmas cat jumper is so cute! I want it! It's £30

If you love Rudolf, this jumper is your answer. And it's a bargainous £18 from F&F at Tesco

Guys

Level 1 - Cool

This Superdry jumper is awesome - but expensive at £110. It's the perfect "winter jumper" with just enough fairisle pattern to also be Christmassy. It's from ASOS

This cable jumper has some tiny reindeer on and if worn with chinos can look super-cool. It's£55 from Urban Outfitters

I love this snowflake pattern jumper Republic - it's £28 and looks really cosy and cool

Level 2 - Slight cheese

This Christmas Jumper from ASOS is a December only one but is still pretty credible and wearable. It's £30

Loving this retro jumper, with cable knit and reindeer leaping around. It's £28.99 from Cloggs

Level 3 - Super Cheese

This jumper is next-level Christmas ugly and costs £38! It's from ASOS. As my brother called it - 8-bit video game bad!

Wednesday Wants: Christmas Edition

It's getting excitingly near Christmas so I thought this week's Wednesday Wants could help give ideas (for both buying presents and what to ask for!)

A gorgeous satchel
I love the Leather Satchel Co. Apparently the originals (more than The Cambridge Satchel Co) they offer loads of different sizes, leathers, colours and options such as poppers and briefcase handles.

I want the 12.5 inch in either red or loch blue. I can't decide... help!

This size is £78 without any extras. What colour though?! I also love the pastel ones but that might be my birthday request in July!

Large Rose Gold Watch
Like every other blogger, I'm in love with the Michael Kors watches, but at around £200 they're not cheap!

but for £25, this River Island watch is a great match!

Cute Pyjamas
Because I'm completely obsessed with Zooey Dechanel in New Girl, I also have come to realise I need more cute PJs. I love this pair of rose print ones from Boux Avenue

Furry Headband
I LOOOOVE this Oasis faux fur headband for keeping my ears warm. It'd look great with a vintage beehive poking out the top and lots of eyeliner!

New case for my phone

Pugs and Kisses - £4.99

Aztec case - £2.99

Lazy Sunday Post - Food Obsessed!

My favourite thing about lazy Sundays is food! Here's my favourites at the moment

Cauliflower and Broccoli Cheese

How I made it:
1. Put Cauliflower and Broccoli on to boil for 10 minutes, then drain. Preheat oven to about 170 degrees
2. Melt a lump of butter with a tablespoon of flour and mix until they are combined
3. Add a pint of milk and a generous dollop of french mustard and bring to the boil
4. Add a huge amount of cheese and melt in while stirring. Taste it and add more cheese to taste.
5. Put vegetables into an oven-proof dish, pour the sauce on top and add grated cheese and bake for 10 minutes

Hummingbird Bakery Banana and Chocolate Cupcakes
These are THE BEST cupcakes ever and are always so popular. I found the recipe on Net Mums, here it is

For the cupcakes:

  • 120 g plain flour
  • 140 g caster sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • a pinch of salt
  • 80 g unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 120 ml whole milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 120 g peeled banana, mashed

For the chocolate frosting:

  • 300 g icing sugar, sifted
  • 100 g unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 40 g cocoa powder, sifted
  • 40 ml whole milk

Decorating:

  • 40 g dark chocolate, grated with a cheese grater into shavings
Equipment: a 12-hole cupcake tray, lined with paper cases
Makes 12
Preheat the oven to 170°C (325°F) Gas 3. Put the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, ginger, salt and butter in a freestanding electric mixer with a paddle attachment (or use a handheld electric whisk) and beat on slow speed until you get a sandy consistency and everything is combined.
Slowly pour the milk into the flour mixture, beating well until all the ingredients are well mixed.
Add the eggs and beat well (scrape any unmixed ingredients from the side of the bowl with a rubber spatula). Stir in the mashed banana by hand until evenly dispersed.
Spoon the mixture into the paper cases until two-thirds full and bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until light golden and the sponge bounces back when touched.
Leave the cupcakes to cool slightly in the tray before turning out onto a wire cooling rack to cool completely.
To make the chocolate frosting, beat the icing sugar, butter and cocoa powder together in a freestanding electric mixer with a paddle attachment (or use a handheld electric whisk) on medium-slow speed until the mixture comes together and is well mixed.
Turn the mixer down to slow speed. Add the milk to the butter mixture a couple of tablespoons at a time. Once all the milk has been incorporated, turn the mixer up to high speed.
Continue beating until the frosting is light and fluffy, about 5 minutes. The longer the frosting is beaten, the fluffier and lighter it becomes.
When the cupcakes are cold, spoon the chocolate frosting on top and finish with the chocolate shavings.

Fluffy Puff Puffs Gourmet Marshmallows
I was sent some gourmet marshmallows by Fluffy Puff Puffs and they were delicious

I tried strawberry burst (with a squidgy strawberry centre)

Peanut and chocolate

and original vanilla flavour

Yum Yum Yum! They were all really nice and had the whole office talking - I had to cut them into tiny pieces so everyone could have a try and my colleagues were all really impressed by them!

Outfit Post: 1960s styling and ASOS pink shift dress OOTN

Being totally in love with vintage looks, I thought I'd style up this simple shift in a different way. This dress is the ASOS simple shift dress which was £30 and comes in some fab colours - I have purple. It's a lovely fit and easy to style in lots of different ways.

I wore it with opaque tights and loafer flats from Primark, a plastic bead necklace and sequin embellished hairbands from Marks & Spencer. I styled my hair in an easy, simple beehive style (see my tutorial for how to do an easy beehive) and added a gorgeous sparkly hairband to add some interest!

Date Night Review!

Thanks to a generous offer from Ladbrokes, some bloggers were offered a chance for a dinner and cinema date night to see James Bond's Skyfall. I was super-excited to take up the offer, I really wanted to see Skyfall after hearing all the rave reviews on Radio 1 and from my friends on Facebook.

Me and James...

I went to Vue cinema to see it

The film:
The film was all-action, explosive and contained lots of nods to the old James Bond films in a tongue-in-cheek way. I don't want to give away too much because there are a couple of people left in the world who haven't seen it, but I'll say it was visually stunning, intense and had lots of funny scenes. After seeing Casino Royale I was expecting more grittyness and less of the cheese of former James Bonds but there were lots of great references to the older films.

We then went to Zizzi for some dinner.

I had the new Cichetti which was lots of small dishes like tapas. I had the Spiedini di Pollo (chicken skewers), Saccottini (mini calzone), Insalata Caprese, Steak Tagliata and Aubergine Involtini. It was all so exciting and delicious, I kind of forgot to take any photos... However I remembered by pudding time!

I had torta cioccolata - a hazlenut and chocolate tart; and grissini e cioccolata - delicious dough sticks with honey, nuts and chocolate sauce

so delicious...

We also ordered coffee to feel fancy, but neither of us like coffee so we're not sure why... Probably because of the delicious pink wine we'd had during the meal!

I had a great date night, and would definitely recommend people wanting a great date to go for it! A big thanks to Ladbrokes for the tickets!

Outfit Post: Bird Print ASOS Skater Dress OOTD

At the weekend I did some Christmas shopping (isn't Mango amazing at the moment?!) and wore my new ASOS skater dress in hummingbird print which cost £25

I paired it with some sheer black tights and shoes from Primark and a vintage handbag from my Nan.

I love the longer sleeves and the nipped in waist, and received lots of compliments on it. It's quite short but with the high neckline I think I could wear it with opaque tights for work. I am completely obsessed with skater skirt dresses at the moment - I think they're so flattering and will be buying far too many more soon!

Sponsored Video - ASOS and Charlotte Free

I’m so excited for the party season to start! I love sequins on everything, wearing LBDs pretty much constantly, getting out the most over the top heels I own and then coming home to snuggle up in embarrassing patterned knits. So you can imagine my excitement now the ASOS Christmas collection is out, as featured in videos starting Charlotte Free, Ellie Goulding (love her) and the amazing Azealia Banks tagged as #BestNightEver

In the collection, I love sparkles, metallics and crazy patterns (Christmas is the best excuse for dressing up all the time)

The images are gorgeous, I love this one of Azealia Banks in this crazy gem stonecropped top – I’d love it with a sheer black shirt, or a cardigan and high-wasited tulip skirt for Christmas.

There’s also loads of amazing prints, great for if you feel brave enough to print-clash (really difficult to do, but it’s Christmas so definitely worth a try). I love this image of Ellie Goulding

ASOS are also giving us a chance to win the looks featured in the video, pin your favourite items from the video with the hashtag #BestNightEver for a chance to be selected. I’m always checking out the new items on ASOS, and with 3 Christmas parties booked so far (having 3 jobs has its benefits!) I have lots of planning to do already. I think there are looks in the collection that could be appropriate for a work lunchtime Christmas party such as the jackets and some great skirts and trousers, but also the more “night out” looks – better get perfecting my glittery smokey eye look!

This post was sponsored - but I do totally love ASOS and the chance to win a prize!

Outfit post: Floral trousers! OOTD

While at work the other day, I saw a girl wearing amazing floral trousers and I was envious! I think mad trousers is a trend that you either totally rock or it wears you, but I had to try it! After a lot of searching and falling in love for a while with these totally crazy-print Mango Floral Trousers I bought these more simple Phase Eight rose print trousers which were in the sale for £20, refuced from £59!

I paired them with a simple sheer t-shirt from Zara for £17.99 which tones the look down, and slipper loafers from Primark  for a cool but special work outfit which would also work with heels for a night out

I'm entering this into the Phase Eight party outfit challenge too - a fun work party look!
