Haul & Review: L'Oreal Super Liner Gel Eyeliner and True Match Mineral Foundation

As I said in my last post, I had a shopping spree with my best friend on Saturday and bought lots of things!

I got "Bump-its" from the 99p shop which are supposed to help you create fake beehives. I'll try them out and show you.

I also got a facial brush from Boots. I've been interested in trying the "Clarisonic" but for more than £100 I thought I'd give a manual one a go!

Superdrug had a 3 for 2 on makeup, if you follow my Twitter (I'm @laurenlovesblog) you'll see I was getting mineral foundation recommendations and someone suggested this. I also got the L'Oreal gel eyeliner and another false lash telescopic mascara because they're amazing (see my glowing review here)

I also went on an ASOS splurge but am only keeping two things. These River Island jeggings which cost £30 and are the best I've ever tried! I'm going to buy another pair!

And this polka-dot skater dress which was £22

So onto the reviews:

Here's the facial brush from Boots I got, it was on the bathing aisle

As you can see it's made of wood and has super-soft bristles.
So far I've really liked it. It doesn't feel rough on my sensitive skin and my face is really soft today! I'll let you know more when I've tried it for a while but so far I've liked it when using with my Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish.

I got the L'Oreal "the minerals" True Match mineral foundation. I like powder foundation because it doesn't give too thick a coverage now that the sunny weather is here, and it keeps my skin matte for much longer than a liquid. I had the Revlon mineral foundation a while ago but was disappointed with it. When I tested this in the shop it seemed to give a fair bit of coverage so bought it.

The product has a cap with brush inside, and the bottom part is a plastic tub, and the cover has holes in to release the product. You tip the tub upside-down with the lid on, and when you take the lid off, there is enough product for your face inside.

Here's the before and after

Before

After

As you can see it really evens up skin tone but leaving it looking really natural (no photoshopping going on here - I'm unable to do it anyway!). I'm really impressed with this product and it's lasted a long time so far without touch ups. I'm really happy with this product, and glad I got it. There is a large range of shades for pale women, with pinky shades, and shades for more yellowy skin tones; however in my shop the range for people with darker skin than olive was non-existent. Maybe that's just my small Superdrug?

Another criticism is that the brush and bowl the product is dispensed into are very small. I'd prefer something kabuki brush-sized because it can be hard to apply and when I tap off excess I get it all over my lap!). Maybe one day I'll fork out for a bareMinerals foundation but until then this £14 product will do (which personally I think is expensive).

The other product I got was the L'Oreal Super Liner gel eyeliner which I hadn't seen before. This was about £9 and comes with the brush. I'd tried the Boots No 7 gel eyeliner before and found it a little difficult to use but thought I'd give this a try.

The box comes with a small gel liner pot, a brush and a cap for the brush.

The product created results like this:

I found it really easy to apply, and like that the brush can be used one way for thick lines, and the other for a thin line. The gel was easy to apply and stays glossy all day rather than turning to chalk and cracking up like a liquid liner. I'm really impressed with this product! It might just be the brush that is good though, I'll try this brush with the remainder of my No 7 eyeliner!

Overall a successful shopping weekend! I'm off for Sunday Roast with my mum now x
