Hair Review: Enrapture Amplify Jumbo Waver

Since I watched Mamma Mia! I have desperately wanted wavey hair like Sophie

Source

I decided that a hair waver was the answer so put out a call for recommendations for good hair wavers on twitter. Enrapture's people got back to me offering I could test out their new Amplify Jumbo Waver so I jumped at the chance.

The Packaging

Firstly, the waver comes packaged in a lovely blue box which feels very GHD-like and luxe

You also get a heat-proof bag/mat which is helpful

The Wavers

The wavers are known as jumbo because the barrels are 25mm in diameter which is apparently larger than other wavers, creating a more natural s-shaped wave then a crimp effect and the plates are titanium to give a perfect slippery finish, even heat and long-lasting finsh so they'll last years.

If you're not sure how wavers work, the barrels are lined up with 2 on one side and 1 on the other. The hair goes between these and is squished into an s-shape.

The waver is very large (as big as my hand, and I have man-sized hands). This may seem daunting but they're very easy to use and I haven't burnt myself yet. The large size means they can wave your hair really quickly also

There is an on-off switch and also a variable heat switch for those with thicker, more stubborn hair and those with soft and delicate hair.

The Results

Here is my natural, dead straight hair (it's a bit longer now than in this picture)

and here are the results of using the waver. IT'S AMAZING!

Sexy beach waves (or great big lion hair as the boyfriend named it)! I didn't use any product when I was waving my hair (I know, naughty Lauren for not using heat protection spray).

The review

  • The waver was really easy to use, even at the back of my head. As you press each wave, you hold it for around 5 seconds, and move down the hair, overlapping the plates so the wave is continuous. This sounds difficult but you actually feel your hair slipping into the groove ready for the next press (if that makes sense. You can just feel it slipping into the next place).

  • It heats up so quickly and is just as quick to style your hair as it is to straighten it because the plates are so large and you can put thick chunks of hair in.

  • The cable is really long which is a plus, and I also like that you can vary the heat

  • If you don't like it after 30 days, you return it for a full money-back refund! But you will love it!

  • The only down side is the price, it's going to be £74.95, but you'd pay more then that for Cloud 9 or GHD hair straighteners, and I personally would use these more than straighteners - mainly because I love the big hair effect and how natural it looks.

If you want a set, they will be available from Boots, Argos and loads of other stockists from 15th August. Check out Enrapture Hair's website for more information and for styling guides
