Lauren's Loves of the Week and a Craving...

I thought I'd share with you what I'm loving this bank holiday weekend...

Neon Pink Nail Varnish

This beauty is "Pink Voltage" by China Glaze and really does glow (especially under UV light). It's the perfect electro-Barbie pink!

Tassell Loafers

These beauties are from Dorothy Perkins and cost £32, except when I took them in store for a refund (I had a gift card, you can't spend gift cards online so the lady said to buy them online on my card, they'd refund them and re-sell them on my gift card) they were then £25! Bargain!

I bought loads more stuff when out shopping yesterday. I may do a "haul" post but will probably just try to work them into OOTDs at a later date.

Dove Sumer Glow + Soft Shimmer

I've not tried out a gradual tan before but I really like this. It's given me very golden natural looking tan top-ups between my weekly St Tropez fixes and it smells really lovely (much nicer than Johnson's - I don't like the vanilla smell).

Can you see the sparkles in this picture? They're really subtle and add a lovely glow to bare legs.

Liz Earle Brightening Treatment Mask

This mask is amazing! I had a sample of it a while back with my Liz Earle order and used it up really quickly so I was delighted to be sent the full size! You leave it on for 30 seconds to 2 minutes (perfect while shaving legs in the shower!) and when you wipe it away you have brightened, radient skin! It's definitely helped me shrug off the last of my winter skin cells.

The formula is really rich and thick, and you can feel it tingle and cool your skin while it's on. I'm really liking it at the moment, and I haven't reacted to it so I have clear, glowing skin at the moment!

Freckles!

How freckly am I?! (the red marks either side of my nose are sunglasses marks!) I haven't been wearing foundation since the 2 week challenge so my freckles are out for all to see. I don't mind them though, I think they're quite cute.

The Royal Wedding!

I'm not a royalist by any stretch of the imagination. I tried to not let myself get drawn into the pre-wedding madness and did so very successfully. I told myself that I only wanted to see her dress... then I watched the whole thing. Seeing them smile when they made eye contact, seeing them hold hands when they thought nobody could see as they went through the horse guards tunnel... and THAT dress. It was just so wonderful and romantic. It's made me start to have pinings for weddings that I'd never had before. I've always been so strictly anti-getting married until I'm like 30, but now at 22 I want to have a big wedding. Flicking through the pages of Hey Gorgeous (an amazing, beautiful blog) I also spotted my dream wedding dress!

You can see the original, beautiful post here. It's a blush coloured, Vera Wang puff of amazingness and I wish it were mine. I think I'd wear it around the house every day! Sadly there's no chance I'm getting married within the next 4 years with the boyf starting Uni this year and everything.

Lauren's Way - Sneek Peek at Fake Tan by TOWIE star Lauren Goodger

PLEASE NOTE - I AM NOT LAUREN FROM THE ONLY WAY IS ESSEX!

I've had numerous emails asking about me being Lauren from TOWIE, and asking for the fake tan range in their salons - I'm sorry but I'm a different Lauren (see I'm blonde!)

I don't know about you, but everyone I know is talking about The Only Way Is Essex (or TOWIE for you Twitterers). I LOVE it, the drama, the lashes, the dresses... and most of all the fake tan! I love a bit of fake tan, with pale skin like mine I need it in the summer because I don't tan at all, and best of all it's safe - especially compared to those evil sun beds.  So guess my excitement when I heard that another fabulous Lauren, Lauren Goodger from TOWIE has released her own fake tan! I really like Lauren, especially after seeing her picture without makeup in Heat Magazine - she's still stunning without it, lucky girl.

Lauren's fake tan range is called Lauren's Way and comes as either a Self-Tanning Bronzing Mousse (£17.95) and a Self-Tanning Lotion (£15.95). The range is also available as a duo for £33.90.

The products claim to create a flawless golden finish with no streaking or patchiness and moisturises your skin to leave it healthy and hydrated. It's also fast drying and has an indicator colour so you can see your application. If you want to read a review, Ree at Really Ree has already tried the mousse and loves it! Later in the week I will be getting the Lotion formula so stay tuned for my review. I'm really excited, everyone seems to be loving it!

We all know about the damaging and harmful effects of over exposure to the sun, it’s hard to dispute that ‘Faux is the Way to Go’ and now we can do it Lauren’s Way! and who doesn't love a Lauren ;-)

Available at http://laurengoodgerofficial.co.uk/ and on http://facebook.com/laurengoodgerofficial

What do you think? Excited by getting an Essex glow? I know I am. Will it be time to say move over St Tropez?

My week in pictures and The Aussie Challenge (lots of pictures!)

Hi everyone,

I've had the last 2 weeks off work so here's a round up of what I've been up to including learning to ride a bike and an update on my Aussie Lighter Self challenge

Here's my week in photos...

My parents went to China for 10 days. They had an amazing time and brought me back this panda hat among other things!

My boyfriend drove us to the New Forest in a Morris Minor 1000 for dinner in a pub surrounded by donkeys and horses. It was so much fun, I felt like I was from the 50s! (do you like his shirt? Deep down he's a bit of a fashionista too but wouldn't admit it!

I got a surprise present from the Philadephia PR people. My brother was delighted as you can see!

My very clever boyfriend changed the bulkhead on his Landrover! This involved practically taking the engine out, the bonnet, wings, windshield and roof off! No wonder he starts an engineering degree in September!

I made my very own yummy chicken kievs from this recipe

I went to Sheffield to visit my family. I love the twisted spire at Chesterfield!

I kissed a horse at Chatsworth House!

Aussie Challenge Update:

A few people have raised the very good point that the titles of the Aussie challenges (lighter self, lighter style) might have hinted at weight loss or lightening hair. I just wanted to make sure everyone knew that wasn't what was happening and there is NO WAY I will be losing any weight. However I am attempting to become more healthy, because I'm really not. Since I had my spine fused (you can read about it here) I had to learn to do everything again, walk, move, sit up... everything had to be re-learned with my spine in a new position. As you can probably imagine that was really scary so I put off learning to ride a bike again! However this week I raised the courage, and with a little push from the Aussie challenges I got on a bike and cycled! The bike was a gift from my boyfriend's nan because I can't ride a traditional bike with my back but this bike is perfect and even has a basket for my Alexa! So far in the last 2 days I've cycled around 10 miles (not bad for a beginner) and only almost been run over 3 times! I always wear a helmet - pay attention kids!

Do you like my jumpsuit? It was £20 from F+F at Tesco! I love it! You can get it here. The sizing runs quite big though, normally I'm a small 10 on bottom but I got an 8 and it's still baggy!

Talking of jumpsuits... I'm despirate for this sewing pattern...

It's Vogue F1338 Marfly Jumpsuit. Sadly it's only available in the USA so if you are from America or know someone over there, I'm begging you, send me an email and can we arrange a swap?!

As for the healthy eating, I've gone up half a pound since my first post but my body fat hasn't gone up so that's really positive. Maybe I am building muscle... or maybe it's all the great cooking when I went to see the family in Sheffield? I'm feeling really great from doing the exercise though, I love the feeling afterwards! However my bad food intake is still quite high, but I'm trying (as you can see by the homemade kievs!) to cut processed junk out!  Aussie have also come out with a cardio exercise video which you can watch here. I managed to hurt my hand by whacking the lamp... Indoor exercise is dangerous!

What do you think of my week in photos post? First time I've ever done one! x

Lauren's blog loving - Amie from She Wore WHAT?!

This week's blog loving comes from Amie at She Wore WHAT?! - a blog I'm totally loving at the moment so go check her out.

20110419-175636.jpg

Hello! Please introduce yourself and your blog

Hi! My name is Amie and I write a fashion blog called She Wore WHAT!?

When did you start blogging and why?

I started writing my blog a couple of years ago because I have always loved fashion but could never afford to wear designer pieces, so I used my blog to highlight trend-driven high street pieces and also websites or stores that I found that were affordable and I wanted to share with others. I also love vintage shopping and I used my blog to show my finds.

What is your favourite feature on your blog/what posts are you most proud of?

I always highlight what I am up to on my blog over other social networking sites for fashion like hypeed, chictopia and lookbook. I'm always really proud if one of my looks gets a lot of votes or if my followers make comments about it, it's a great feeling!

Describe your style

My style is based on elegance-I always think about my grandmothers style when I am dressing and I think this is why I have such an affinity with vintage clothes. I never wear jeans-in fact I only own one pair! I much prefer peg trousers with silk tops and fitted dresses which I wear with a twist like a vintage boot. I love classic pieces which stand the test of time.

Whats your favourite item of clothing?

I love trousers. My favourite trouser shapes are harem or peg leg shapes. I find them so easy to wear and I have soooo many pairs!

What is your favourite High Street shop and who is your favourite designer?

I tend to mainly shop online or in charity shops...I love a bit of Topshop now and again, but two sites I really recommend are Yull.co.uk for fabulous British shoes and thecherrycloset.com for amazing vintage. Designer wise, I love classic houses like Chanel and YSL but also (slightly) more affordable brands like Acne and Jil Sander-classic, clean shapes and stylish pieces.

Apart from Blogging, what do you do?

I am a fashion writer and would love to make this my full time job. But I also work in retail!

What is your dream?

I would love to own a vintage boutique with my boyfriend, selling vintage clothing (me) and records (him) I would love it!

Tell me a Secret

I am addicted to 80's and 90's sitcoms and watch them on repeat! My favourite is The Darling Buds of May!

So go check her out now at her blog. Remember if you want to feature in Lauren's blog loving, email me at lauren@laurenlovesblog.com

Aussie Lusciously Light Challenge

You may remember a couple of weeks ago I won a place as an Aussie Angel, and you may have seen my huge badge on my "about" page showing I'm a proud member of the long hair tribe.

As a winner we were asked to take part in a challenge - either to have a lusciously lighter self or lusciously lighter style. I chose self but rather than lose weight I'm going to get fitter. I'm going to keep a weekly diary talking about my diet, exercise and lots of pictures!

The first part arrived on Wednesday - a big box with a t-shirt and long conditioner arrived with a letter telling us that we'll be getting weekly exercise videos and diet tips, culminating in a day in London of yoga, yummy food and pretty hair! Bliss! Plus the person who makes the most effort over their challenge wins a prize!

Without further ado, here are my vital statistics at the start of the challenge:

  • Height - 5 foot 9.5 (1.76 meters)

  • Weight - 8.75 stone (55.6 kg)

  • BMI - 17.9

  • Body Fat % - 21.6%

And here is my stylish challenge t-shirt!

So I'll keep you updated with my progress. I'm off to walk a dog in the New Forest!

What do you think of my challenge?

FBFF - Gratitude

Hi Everyone, I'm doing another FBFF (Fashion Beauty Friend Friday) post! This week it's all about gratitude - We each have so many people in our lives and in the blogging community who have helped us along the way. It’s time to shine the spotlight on them and give credit where credit is due.

1. When it comes to be personally – I owe a lot of who I am to:

My family, friends and boyfriend. I'm so lucky to have a wonderful support network around me who are just the best people ever. Love you guys
2. When it comes to be professionally – I owe a lot of who I am to:

Every lecturer, every colleague, friends and importantly my family for giving me a good work ethic and telling me that I can be whoever I want to be!
3. When it comes to the art of blogging, I’m grateful to these people for helping me through some rough spots:

Everyone who has ever supported me by leaving comments, giving me advice and chatting to me. Twitter is invaluable for making blogging contacts and networking with supportive, amazing people. Also big love to Burger from Brain Ooze for supporting me when there's a fight on my blog!
4. One blogging challenge I’m grateful happened because it made me stronger was…

When I posted about doing Minx nails at home, there was a huge storm from beauty professionals which generally involved them getting upset that I'd let out a salon secret, even though it's freely available online. It upset me because I didn't mean to cause any anger or even threaten anyone's jobs - I was just blogging and testing out beauty products which is what my blog aims to do! Also the conclusion was that it's better to go to a salon... Anyway, overall other bloggers and friends supported me and backed me up, they let me know that people do want this information and that when you gain a certain number of followers, you're inevitably going to also gather haters.
5. To my readers, I’d like to say…

Thank you so much for following, for making my blogging experience so fulfilled and for every comment or tweet you send me. I love being connected to this community and the blogging contacts I've made. Remember to enter my big one year giveaway as a thank you to my readers. CLICK HERE

Style Challenge - DaMart Reinvention!

Damart - if it's a shop you've heard of, you'll more than likely associate them with old people or thermals. However they're in the process of changing and creating clothes for us younger generations! I was contacted by the Damart PR people to do a style challenge and make some of the pieces work and look fashionable to show it's possible!

Here's the items I was sent

Paisly Tunic Blouse - £35 and Studded Shrug - £29

So in-keeping with the 1970s styles that are round at the moment, I decided to wear this with some 70s flare(s)!

When taking the pictures, my boyfriend actually said "I like that top, it's paisley". He's learning fast :-)

Outfit:

I think for the future, I'll pair the top with some leggings or jeggings to emphasise my small legs - I think the 70s look swamps me! However I really like the tops! So there you have it - proof that Damart can work for everyone, all ages and this has possibly changed my preconceptions of many shops that I never walk into. Will you be checking it out next time you're walking down the high street? Here's some other pieces they have currently which I have my eye on:
